<p>It is beautiful how love songs from mystical traditions of Indian subcontined can be easily used both in spiritual context and for talking about human relations. It is because in reality there is no difference. Sufi or Baul philosophy, poetry, songs are mainly about love, about giving away of &#8220;lower&#8221; self, submission, the hardest lesson, and at the same time the only gate towards bliss. So here is some shots from my travels with mystics and a translation of a Sufi love song below, used by Bollywood, of course in a love story. You have to be aware though, when Sufis say &#8220;God&#8221; , they do not mean anything out there, any reality different from ourselves.</p>

<p>Piękną rzeczą jest, że piosenki o miłości z mistycznych tradycji Azji mogą byc łatwo wykorzystywane zarówno w duchowym kontekście jak i do opowiadania o międzyludzkich emocjach. To możliwe dlatego, że w rzeczywistości nie ma różnicy. Filozofia, poezja, pieśni baulów czy sufi są głównie o miłości, o oddawaniu swego &#8220;niższego&#8221; ja, poddaniu,  najcięższej lekcji, ale jednocześnie jedynej bramie do ekstazy. Zatem poniżej parę kadrów z moich podróży z mistykami, i tłumaczenie sufickiej pieśni, wykorzystanej tu w bolywoodzkim filmie ( o miłości oczywiście ). Musicie być jednak świadomi, że kiedy sufi śpiewają o &#8220;Bogu&#8221;, nie mają na myśli czegoś wysoko i daleko, jakiejś rzeczywistości różnej od nas samych.</p>

<p>That song was already quoted on this blog, when I told the story of Bauls. But I could only sense the meaning of these words until last Saturday, and then I got to feel more. So enjoy it, and I wish you can experience that one day too. I find it beautiful, another crazy twist of this global thread, when I illustrate the poem by Lalon Fakir with a photo from South America, as this was the plant from South America that enabled me deeper understanding of Sufi philosophy. The photos that follow are previously unpublished shots of fakirs at the festival at the grave of Gharib Nawaz in Ajmer, India.</p>

<p><em>“Where lies this mystery of human soul?</em><br />
<em> Where from I came and where shall I go?</em><br />
<em> Lalon’s says:</em><br />
<em> How does the strange bird</em><br />

<em> I would put it under the fetters of my heart.</em><br />

<p>Ta pieśń była już cytowana na tym blogu, kiedy opowiadałem historię o Baulach z Bengalu. Jednak wtedy byłem tylko w stanie domyślać się jej znaczenia, do ostatniej soboty, kiedy miałem okazję doświadczyć czegoś więcej. Życzę tego każdemu. Wydaje się kolejnym pięknym i dziwnym zakrętem w tej pozawijanej globalnej historii, kiedy ilustruję wiersz Lalon Fakira zdjęciem z Ameryki Południowej, ale tak wyszło, że to roślina z tego właśnie kontynentu pomogła mi zrozumieć bardziej filozofię Sufi. Zdjęcia poniżej to niepublikowane dotąd ujęcia fakirów z festiwalu w Ajmer z okazji rocznicy śmierci sufickiego świętego Gharib Nawaza.</p>

<p>When we travel through physical space , the story being told carries us through the space of myth, Fakirs are masters of story, narration from parallel, spiritual world, in which what we call facts and chronology does not really matter,  has this happened yesterday or 500 years ago, perhaps we are surrounded by neverending residential towers and concrete , but in their world we travel through dense forest and instead of speeding trucks the real danger are predatory animals. I am in fairy tale that I only read about before, finally I made it through to the world of baron Munchhausen. Parables that remind teaching of Jesus, long tales, repetitions and rhetoric in archaic style, &#8220;and there were tigers there, and lions and wild pigs&#8221;&#8230;&#8221; tomorrow we enter the land of dangerous tiger&#8221;&#8230; &#8221; Gharib ( Poor ) Nawaz says &#8211; if you have one chapati, and there is two of you, share it in two pieces, if you are four, share in four, if there is eight, share for eight&#8221; &#8230;&#8221; Blessed are those who have nothing&#8221;, &#8230; Another fakir telling me  &#8221; I am one piece, dunya , the material world does not matter at all&#8221;</p>

<p>Kiedy przemierzamy fizyczną przestrzeń, snute opowieści niosą nas przez przestrzeń mitu.  Fakirzy to mistrzowie opowieści, narracji z równoległego, duchowego świata, w którym to co nazywamy faktami czy chronologią ma drugorzędne znaczenie, czy zdarzyło się wczoraj czy 500 lat temu, być może otaczają nas bloki i beton ale w ich świecie wędrujemy przez gęsty las a zamiast ciężarówek zagrażają nam niebezpieczne zwierzęta. Jestem w bajce o której dotychczas tylko czytałem,  nareszcie dotarłem do świata barona Munhausena. Przypowieści niczym z gawędy Jezusa, długie historie, wiele retoryki, powtórzeń w archaicznym stylu, &#8220;i były tam tygrysy, i lwy i dzikie świnie&#8221;, &#8230; &#8220;jutro wejdziemy w krainę &#8220;dangerous tiger&#8221;&#8230; Gharib ( Biedny ) Nawaz mówi &#8211; jak masz jedno chapati, i jest was dwóch, podziel je na dwie części, jeśli jest was czterech, podziel na cztery, jeśli ośmiu, na osiem&#8230;&#8221; &#8230;&#8221;Błogosławieni którzy nic nie mają&#8221;&#8230;. Kolejny z fakirów &#8211; &#8220;I am one piece &#8211; jestem jednym kawałkiem&#8221; . On rezygnuje ze świata ułudy , z całej &#8220;dunya&#8221;, to co materialnie nie ma znaczenia&#8230;</p>
